Incoming package from Tomomi

Tomomi sent me this cute little package from Japan. I absolutely love the Disney stamps and how she decorated the front. And inside… this goody pack was filled with some roasted green tea, coffee, a lovely letter and sweet wedding card. Thank you, Tomomi!10410963_680400715422804_8342053476084879974_n-1

First Postcard Purchase this Year

Morning coffee at a small shop in Suyu.
An Americano, cookie and this brilliant postcard.

I’ve been so busy these days… It’s been a while since I’ve had the chance to actually sit down and write a postcard. Snail mail is a wonderful thing; the reason that I began this blog – but life has taken over and my hobby has been put on the back-burner. As soon as I saw postcards hung all around, I knew it was a sign that I should get back into the swing of things. Perhaps I’ll head back to Cafe NYL some time if I’m ever back in Suyu.

It’s rare to find really beautiful (non-touristy) cards here. Designed by a local South Korean artist, each photo is unique. You can check out some more amazing photos here: 시같은기억! Enjoy!

Incoming Mail

A gorgeous thank you card from Carol, Kara’s grandma.IMG_3519

I didn’t expect this at all. A while back, Kara’s grandmother went in for surgery and (even though I don’t know her personally) I was on board with sending her a get well card. Such a lovely idea for Kara to organize this for her grandma. I am so happy that my card (and all of the other cards that were sent) reached her safely and made her day. Glad to hear that Carol is doing well.

It was so sweet to receive her thankful words.
I also love how the card is laser cut. It is so delicate and classy!

Maria sent this vintage ad card from Russia.

Here is a card from J Kim, my new pen pal in Korea.
She got this card (below) while she was visiting Turkey.

I’m really glad that we’re swapping because now it’ll give me more opportunity to read and write in Korean. Tonight I am taking part in a Korean-English language exchange.
Hopefully that goes well.
Looking forward to more sending and receiving this week 🙂

First Pinch Me Package

Mmmm…. Gevalia Mocha Latte. My first Pinch Me package.

This was delicious but I probably wouldn’t buy it at the grocery store. Even though I love sweet things, this drink was super sweet and there are a lot of different (probably not too healthy) ingredients. It was a treat for me — and of course, a lovely surprise in my mailbox 🙂

On Tuesday I’ll be going back to Canada and unfortunately Pinch Me only exists in USA. Thank you to Amber in Kitchener who posted about https://www.samplesource.com/. Check out her finds here. She got some pretty sweet samples. Thanks for sharing. I just registered!

Hope to get some lovely free gifts at my door soon.

Healthy Alternative to Coffee

Okay, so I love my coffee but I’m trying to quit.

First, I decided to go decaf but wanted a more natural alternative. I drink lots of tea but it just doesn’t give me the same satisfaction as coffee does. I’ve also heard about Crio Bru, which is made from cocoa beans. I’d imagine this to be super delicious but the cocoa beans still have caffeine.

And caffeine is messing with me. Really, it plays around with my hormones and makes me a crazy person. Not to mention that it’s addictive. You can read more here.

I found this all natural, caffeine free instant beverage.

What’s in it? It’s made with roasted barley,
roasted malt barley, roasted chicory and roasted rye.

Could roasted grains possibly be as good as  the aromatic beauty of coffee?

The truth is, no.  It’s definitely not as good as coffee, but it’s not that bad and I hope it’ll wean me off my addiction. Otherwise this could be me.

Here goes, for this healthy alternative to coffee.

Wish me luck!

A Canadian Care Package to my Chingu in Seoul

Yahoo! The package of goodies that I sent

safe and sound.

I sent over some chocolate loonies, an island bar,
cracker jacks, coffee and Canadian sew on flag:
because, I think he’s pretty Canadian at heart.

Does snail mail make you happy too?
